Dr. Ortega was raised in Santa Fe, NM and her passion for medicine started in high school. After completing her undergraduate degree, she spent time testing software being used for the Human Genome Project. Her residency took her to Oklahoma where she worked in family medicine and, also established a private practice, she joined CHRISTUS Health as an employed physician for physician’s practices where she has established a busy practice at Journey to Wellness. Now she is excited about her latest venture as Site Director because she brings over 20 years of experience to the Champion Family Medicine Residency Program and academic medicine gives her opportunity to teach our future doctors.
Dr. Ortega is married with 3 children. She enjoys reading, painting, and spending time with friends and family. She teaches a variety of classes at her church and regularly participates in local outreach as well as international missions.
